Chomper trotted a short ways ahead of Solar. The large fiery bird watched the mischievous little Trapinch carefully. The Trapinch had a habit of eating anything that didn’t run away, and if he could still catch it, well it hadn’t run fast enough. Behind her trotted Carnelian with Topaz sitting comfortably on the growlith’s back. The two were here to help keep an eye on Solar and Chomper both as they were the oldest pokemon on the ranch.
“So how do you think Chomper’s going to do tonight?” asked Carnelian wagging his tail as he trotted along.
Topaz chuckled, she curled herself around Carnelian’s shoulders. “I think we are going to be lucky if all he eats is the candy, but anything is possible.” The weedle said looking ahead. So far Chomper had narrowly avoided eating two tires, one delivery man, and 5 pumpkins. Mostly through the efforts of Solar. The young and still small legendary bird was doing a surprisingly effective job of keeping Chomper at bay, and the delivery man had not been to unhappy about his singed pants so all in all the day was off to a good start.
“Oh, look there he goes again.” Said Topaz, Chomper was making a beeline for the pumpkin sitting in the yard ahead of them.
The little orange Trapinch was trotting towards the grinning jack o lantern with one thought on his mind and his stubby legs churning towards it.
“Think she’s going to manage six in a row?” asked Carnelian conversationally.
“Yeah, I do think so.” Said Topaz watching as Solar spat a small stream of fire in between the Trapinch and his intended target. Chomper whimpered and made a halfhearted effort to get around it. After a short period of time, a surprisingly short period even. Chomper gave up with a sigh and trotted back to the main path.
“Either she’s getting better or he’s starting to be resigned to the fact.” Said Topaz.
Solar and Chomper walked up the walk path to the door of the house. Chomper head butted the door a few times, it let out a deep booming sort of sound, out of place with the amount of force the Trapinch had applied. Chomper backed up nervously as the door creaked open.
“Trick or treat.” Chirped Solar a little nervously, Chomper gurgled beside her. The promise of potential candy was enough that he even hopped forward another few feet, opening his mouth hopefully.
