Desert exploration 1

Fire Flower loved the desert, it was warm and dry. The sun almost seemed to caress her wings from above while creating glorious warm columns of air to lift her upwards almost effortlessly.  She suspected that Raven was enjoying this almost as much as she herself was. The purple black tailow was barely moving her wings at all and ahead of them Gary soared widely.  Being a reptile he was probably enjoying this most of all she thought.  She was wrong though.  Gary was a creature of the tall mountains and deep caves, the heat here was wonderful but the bright glare of the sun off of the sand was blinding to his eyes.  He squinted ahead of himself and wondered if it was normal for palm trees to dance, in his experience trees never. . . he groped for the right word to describe what he was seeing.  Finally he decided upon waver.  Trees never wavered like that where he had come from and for that matter had not done so anywhere else he had been.  Could they be some strange hot lands variety of Sudowoodo perhaps.  He circled back to where the girls were flying.  Fire Flower he suspected would not be very much help, but Raven might. 
  “Do you to see the dancing trees?” he asked quietly. 
  “Oh! Dancing trees? Where?” cooed Fire Flower gazing around until her gaze found the tree’s in question.  “Wow! I’ve never seen trees do that, are they pokemon?”
  Raven nodded “Yes Gary I see them.  I don’t know what they are but they may very well be worth investigating.  I want everyone to go slow and stick together.  If these are pokemon of some kind they may attempt to attack us for coming into their territory.” The shiny tailow instructed.
  “Okay.” Chirped Fire Flower, Gary simply nodded to Raven, at least he was not crazy, they both saw the dancing trees too.
  The trio flew lower to the sand dunes as they got closer to the trees the rippling visage changing the nearer they came and then they reached a point where the ripples suddenly went away as if they had never been.  The trees stood straight and tall growing in a rough ring around a small freshwater spring. 
  Gary hovered and turned to look behind him, he had been sure that the trees were moving a second ago, what had happened? Had they been scared into stillness by their approach.  He shook his head and flew close to one of the trunks to land near its base.  Cautiously he tapped the trunk with his tail, in the background he could faintly hear Fire Flower and Raven making their own examinations of trees.
  His tree at least seemed solid enough.  When he hit it all he heard was a solid thump. He flew back to the others to see what they had found.  Fire Flower was watching Raven and both pokemon seemed slightly confused. 
  “I have no idea why the trees were moving like that.  Maybe it was a trick of the light or something.” Chirped Raven with a shrug.  “Lets keep looking I don’t see any pokemon here and if there were any nearby this is almost certainly where they would be.” She chirped taking to the air. 
  The trio circled the clump of trees before striking out into the desert once again.  Gary kept looking back over his shoulders as they flew wondering if the trees would start to dance again.  Sure enough when they got far enough away the trees began to waver once more, and he almost thought he saw one of them waving at him.
